Interactive Entrepreneurial Internships

WHAT better way to experience the thrills and frustrations of launching a new business than working side-by-side with real entrepreneurs? Each summer, TCU’s Neeley Entrepreneurship Center matches students with real businesses that are just getting off the ground.

Partnering with TECH Fort Worth
TCU partners with a local technology incubator, TECH Fort Worth, to provide office space and support to budding entrepreneurs while offering summer internships at the start-up businesses.

Each summer, TCU’s Neeley Entrepreneurship Center matches students with real businesses that are just getting off the ground. The Matching Game
Students who want to work for the start-up companies submit their resume and an essay on why they would like to be in the program and what they hope to gain from the experience. The Neeley Entrepreneurship Center organizes a meet-and-greet at TECH Fort Worth where the real-life entrepreneurs give a two-minute pitch on their organization and the work they have for interns, while students give a two-minute pitch on their skills, experience and interests. The students and companies rank each other, then the entrepreneurship faculty and operations manager at TECH Fort Worth make the matches.

Going to Work
The student interns work for the companies over the summer for a total of 200 hours. At the end of the summer, everyone attends a reception. Last summer, one student came up with such a great idea for the business he was working for that he was invited to go to Italy and see it through.
