$800,000 student-run business taps into the movement toward digital media

Michael Moon is currently an MBA candidate in the W.P. Carey School of Business and a 2005 Computer Science Engineering graduate from UC Davis. Moon, along with a business partner, are entering their second year as co-CEOs and creators of FreetheApps.com, an online business that develops and markets popular mobile-web based applications for smart phones, tablets and personal computers.

In their first year, Moon and his partner earned $800,000 and ranked in the top five of most popular downloaded applications through software giant iTunes. On top of handling the development of mobile applications, Moon is also credited with helping write a how-to guide for people interested in creating mobile applications and bringing them to market.
