Lauren Dwyer Success Story: Creighton University

A PHYSICS major and member of the Creighton Collegiate Entrepreneurship Club chapter, Lauren Dwyer’s career goal is to become an intellectual property attorney. She won first prize in Creighton’s annual Bluejay elevator pitch event and advanced to the national CEO competition, promoting a product invented by an Omaha vascular surgeon that reduces post-surgical swelling. Her summer internship with a regional intellectual property law firm in conjunction with Creighton’s Intellectual Resource Management office allowed her to research and assist in writing a patent.

"Through the BEP I am learning how to apply my research and turn it into a marketable idea, which is typically not addressed in my other science classes.”Lauren had this to say about Creighton’s National Science Foundation-sponsored Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program (BEP):   “I have gained a lot of perspective by working with business and law students. Through the BEP I am learning how to apply my research and turn it into a marketable idea, which is typically not addressed in my other science classes.”
